Club star heads overseas

Tonight we wish a very proud (but temporary!) farewell to Holly from Phil and Crispin’s middle distance group as she embarks on her higher education studies overseas.

Holly has secured a 4 year scholarship to Louisiana University, USA to study for a degree in Health and Physical Education whilst furthering her athletics training.

The scholarship is based not only on Holly’s academic studies but also takes into account her times and achievements gained in athletics. Holly was inspired to pursue an American scholarship by other Colwyn Bay athletes who have achieved this opportunity in the past few years; Michael Parry, Matthew Harding and Nathan Jones.

Holly is paving the way for the girls as she is the first female club athlete to go to the USA.

Holly has been a regular with Colwyn Bay since she entered the Under 11’s cross country league for the club in 2011 running for the first time in Bangor at the age of 10. Since then, her hard work, enthusiasm and determination both at training and in competitions has seen her go from strength to strength, representing Wales at track and field events, road, cross country and mountain running.

Well done Holly, you are such an inspirational and vibrant member of the group and will be incredibly missed – we are all so so proud of you and wish you all the very best.
