Bethan Davies was the under-20 winner as her club Colwyn Bay hosted a record-breaking second round of the Grand Prix Express North Wales Cross-Country League.
Davies finished an excellent ninth overall in the women’s race, which took place in heavy mud and non-stop rain at Fox Hills in Colwyn Bay on Saturday.
There were record turnouts in both the men’s and women’s races in classic cross-country conditions.
After Davies, next home for Colwyn Bay Athletic Club was Anne Mynott, who was second over-50 woman in 32nd place overall, while club-mate Maureen Singleton was also in the age-group placings, finishing second over-75 in 166th place.
There were 174 finishers in the women’s race, which was won by Eden O’Dea of Deeside Athletic Club.
Richard Watson finished 49th to lead the host club home in the men’s race, which had 180 finishers and was won by Joe Steward of Bangor University.
Colwyn Bay AC also hosted the second fixture of the North Wales Junior Cross-Country League at the same venue in the morning, with more than 100 children racing.
The Bay’s cross-country team are next in action in the second round of the North Staffordshire Cross-Country League at Stafford Common this Saturday, October 26.
