Junior Championships In Cardiff

Day 1 at the U13, U15, U20 Welsh Indoor Champs at Cardiff. We had three CBAC athletes giving superb action across the age groups;
Sienna
Newly into the under 13 age group this year, this was Sienna’s first year at the Welsh Indoor Champs.
First up was Shot Put
Sienna’s throw distance improved with each attempt, finishing with a 5.79m PB throw at this new u13 weight 
finishing in 6th place out 11 
finishing in 6th place out 11 60 m heat - 8.87s 1st place
60m Semi final - 8.73s 2nd place
Sienna made the final on her first ever champs finishing 8th overall - well done Sienna
Hugo
Hugo started his day with Long jump, saving his biggest jump until last with 4.06m earning himself a Bronze

This took him straight to the final where he bettered his time again running 8.62s - a new PB , a GOLD medal

Then through to the final where he ran 7.00s and claimed a Silver medal

First up was Elin, racing for the first time in the U15 age group. She sailed through the heats of the 800m, pushing hard on the final lap moving from third to first and gaining a place in the final. Elin managed to up the pace in the final, working hard again in the final lap to move into third place and earning herself a championship bronze in a time of 2.30.47 - superb 
in a time of 2.30.47 - superb Next up were Lois and Sienna in the under 13 girls 200m. This was Lois’s first race in the U13 girls age group and her first national champs. She ran a solid heat coming 2nd in a time of 32.43, narrowly missing out on the semi finals. Sienna ran a smooth 29.92 to win her heat, taking her through to the semifinals where she cranked up the pace, winning her heat in a time of 29.24 and a place in the final. She also squeezed in a high jump (1.12m 8th) and a long jump where she jumped 3.20m placing 8th out of 15, before finishing her busy weekend with a 4th place finish in the final of the 200m - brilliant!
Hugo was in action today in the 200m and the high jump. Sailing through the heats of the 200m winning his heat in a time of 28.69, he then shot straight over to the high jump where he managed to clear 1.31m taking a championship gold . It was then back to the semi finals but unfortunately, an accidental foot stepping out of his lane on the bend meant he was sadly disqualified, gutted for you Hugo, but you have been fantastic across the whole weekend

Unfortunately, a tight hamstring after the heats meant he had to withdraw from the semifinals to prevent injury. Wise move Connor, and again - well done for a cracking weekend of racing
