Junior Championships in Swansea

This past Saturday and Sunday we had a trio of Colwyn Bay AC athletes in action at the Welsh Junior Championships down in Swansea.

Connor ran the 100m and 200m for the under 17 boys where he stormed his way through the heats and into the finals for both winning a fantastic championship bronze in the 100m ((11.37s) and a championship silver in the 200m. Connor ran a superb PB of 22.40 in the final of the 200m to clinch the silver also a new Colwyn Bay club record ????????.

Kane stepped up for the 400m and 200m in the under 20’s men’s age group, making his way through the heats before narrowly missing out on a medal for the 400m, placing 4th in a time of 50.44 and 7th overall in the 200m in a time of 23.08.

Last, but by no means least, Lydia ran the 100m, 200m and 300m for the under 17 ladies. The 100m saw her pull out a great PB in the heats, earning a place in the semi finals finishing 12th overall (new PB of 13.57). Lydia’s PB’s kept rolling in as she then went on to PB in the heats of both the 200m and 300m, before then running both the finals of the 200m and 300m in the afternoon with just half an hour apart between her races. Not daunted by this, Lydia then improved on her new PB’s in both finals!!! Amazing ????!! Lydia finished 8th overall in the 200m (27.35) and 5th in the 300m in a time of 43.21.

Fantastic achievements for all three of you, especially considering we don’t currently have a track to train on! Well done to coach Chris for all his hard work with these athletes both at training and over the weekend in Swansea ????
