Strong showing at YDL meet

Strong showing at YDL meet

Next round of the youth development league; Warrington, Saturday 20th July.

Colwyn Bay’s U13/U15 team pulled out brilliant performances yesterday in Sportcity, Manchester.

Part way through the day we were placing third on the competition points table.

Each athlete gave their all, bagging points for the team, both in their usual races, and through trying their hand in events such as throws and jumps which may have been a new experience for them. Some even discovered new talents – big shout out to Aimee who stepped up for U13 girls high jump, cleared a massive 1.31m gaining her a high top 10 welsh ranking for her age group!!!

Despite our successes, frustratingly, we were particularly short of athletes in some events, in particular the relays. We only managed 1 full relay team (who performed amazing!) out of a possible 6. This had a huge impact on the final points and we finished in 5th.

We know we have many talented and willing athletes yet to compete and would love to send out a full team in our next event (20th July).

Please can all club members in the u13 and u15 age group (school years 6-9) let the coaches know their availability. Any athletes who are not yet CBAC members but wish to compete, please make sure you ‘join our club’ and you will be eligible to compete.

Events available include; sprints, 800m, 1200m (u13G), 1500m, high jump, long jump, shot, discuss, javelin and relays.

Please see your coach or ask in the tram on training nights for more details.
